About My Mother’s Daughter (2025-2026)
For 6 years, my mother could not get pregnant. After trying various methods of conceiving, she finally gave birth to a baby to raise as her own through IVF with an egg donor. The family and community I was brought up in was overjoyed. She was so blessed to be able to have a “miracle baby” by the grace of God. As I matured, the shine and excitement of my miraculous arrival have dwindled. This photographic body of work, My Mother’s Daughter, aims to express disillusionment and disorientation as I struggle to find my place away from attention and spotlight.
